Product Innovation Chemist, Radiation Curing Technology

In this role you will be supporting Teknos strategy and targets to be perceived as an innovative and a sustainable coating system provider globally. 
As a Product Innovation Chemist you will be searching, evaluating and developing new materials and technologies for Teknos, focusing on transformative innovations which are generally targeting for several years ahead. This is a global role, reporting to Innovations Manager and will be located in Alzenau, Germany.

 

Daily tasks and responsibilities:

  • Scouting for ideas and technologies over  own expertise area 
  • Combining know-how over different technologies to find new products and applications for Teknos
  • Executing development projects for creating new products and applications for Teknos 
  • Planning and participating piloting of new products and applications
  • Sharing information cross-teams and cross-functions to accelerate launch of new products and applications
  • Planning and executing idea evaluation through scouting, feasibility studies and proof of concept phases; Planning of laboratory work and testing; Evaluating results and deciding on next steps. 
  • Acting as a project manager for chosen development projects and supporting innovation commercialization steps
  • Searching, documenting and sharing new ideas according to Teknos’ idea management process
  • Supporting communication of innovation activities by preparing data and visualization of results
  • Sharing new ideas with Product Development (R&D) teams
  • Planning and participating product/ technology trials with partners and customers 
  • Finding contacts and partners to execute new testing and new testing methods for Teknos
  • Participating and contributing to chosen co-innovation actions with partners and customers

Key skills and qualifications:

  • Several years of experience in UV- and other Radiation Curing technologies, including expertise on different raw materials, application methods and curing systems used in radiation curing
  • Ability to consider new application areas for radiation curing chemistry and new building blocks to polymers to increase sustainability of radiation curing coatings and proces
  • Contact network to raw material suppliers, line equipment manufacturers and energy source producers
  • Minimum Master’s degree on chemistry or materials engineering or similar 
  • Open minded, ability to recognize opportunities with new materials and processes, and combine information to create new products and applications
  • Curious mindset, considering new ways to use and combine materials and technologies
  • Open communicator, willingness to share information and ideas 
  • Organized way of sharing and documenting information, ability to write unambiguous instructions to technicians
  • Ability to create clear, consistent and concise project plans with target in mind
  • Proven record for new product development capabilities 
  • Skills to use PLM/ PDM systems
  • Located in Alzenau area in Germany and capable to communicate fluently in English and German
