We are now looking for a Test Painter to join our team at Teknos. In this role, you play an important part in ensuring that our paints and coatings are applied correctly, safely, and consistently — helping our customers achieve proven, reliable solutions in real-life applications.
As a Test Painter, you will pre-treat substrates and apply paints and coatings on a variety of surfaces. You will document your work carefully and evaluate the performance of our products. You will also participate in customer test paintings, either at Teknos’ facilities or at customers’ test sites. We work with customers across many industries and countries, making Teknos a truly international company.
Why join Teknos?
Teknos is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of industrial coatings and one of the largest family-owned companies in Finland. Today, we employ around 1,400 people in more than 20 countries across Europe, China, India, Malaysia, and the USA. Our mission is to make the world last longer.
Although our growth goals are ambitious, we have maintained a unique family atmosphere in our work culture. This is reflected in an open, fair, and creative workplace, where everyone is treated equally and ideas are listened to and valued. We focus on customer experience, sustainability, innovation, balance, and continuous improvement — and we believe everyone can truly make a difference.
This role offers you a great opportunity to learn more about the world of painting and coating, develop your skills, and grow together with the company.
You will mainly work at our Pitäjänmäki factory in Helsinki, in our paint shop, together with your closest colleague, Miro. The best part of this job is according to Miro that "we have a genuinely supportive team spirit and the flexibility to shape our workday in a way that fits our life. Here, you’re continuously growing, exploring new tools and materials, and developing your skills every step of the way."
What your days will look like
You will work closely with internal stakeholders such as Research & Development and Sales, as well as with customers and equipment suppliers.
Your daily work includes:
- Pre-treatment of parts to be painted (e.g. washing, blast cleaning, sanding)
- Preparation of spray mixtures
- Documentation of essential work phases
- Measurement of coating film thickness
- Cleaning, maintenance, and partial servicing of painting equipment
- Performing calibrations and functional checks of paint shop measuring instruments
- Guiding and training relevant personnel in paint shop operations
- Ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and Teknos HSEQ guidelines
- Promoting HSEQ, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
What do we expect from you?
- A genuine interest in painting, coatings, and hands-on technical work
- Basic skills or education in painting (previous experience in spray painting, industrial painting, or a trainee/apprenticeship background in the area is sufficient to start with, but you can also be a more seasoned professional)
- A self-driven mindset, willingness to learn, and flexibility in daily work
- Willingness to travel occasionally to our Rajamäki plant (a valid driver’s license is required)
- Good communication skills in English (Finnish is considered an advantage)
- Experience working with customers is a plus — but not required
What we offer
- A supportive, family-oriented work culture
- Good coffee and subsidized lunch at our own bistro with multiple options
- Epassi benefits for sports, culture, and wellbeing
- Access to gym facilities in Pitäjänmäki and Rajamäki as well as Group sports activities twice a week in Pitäjänmäki
- Extensive occupational health care through Terveystalo (including medical care)
- Leisure-time insurance
- Employee discounts on Teknos product
